STORMING SECOND HALF COMEBACK SEES HARPS PICK UP FIRST VICTORY
Tir Conaill Harps 1-8 2-3 Dundee Dalriada

Tir Conaill Harps came into this match looking for their first win of the league season against a Dundee Dalriada side that had recorded one win and one loss from their games to date. Despite being understrength on the day, the Tir Conaill men had a panel of 18 for this match played at Dunbeth ...Park, Coatbridge.

Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, it was Harps who got off to the better start, with points from player manager Sean Fitzpatrick and captain on the day Daniel Gallagher. Dundee however wrestled their way back into the game over the course of the half with a fortunate first goal from 40 yards which looped into the top corner and a second only minutes later, which edged into the bottom corner, as the unlucky Job Van Der Werf got fingertips to the ball but could not keep it out. Harps trailed at half time on a scoreline of 2-2 to 0-3.

An inspiring teamtalk by Manus Brennan lifted the side for the start of the second half, as they got the first point when a long ball into Daniel Gallagher was kicked over the bar by the former Glenswilly man. Moments later a second long ball in seen Gallagher fouled inside the large rectangle and referee Alan Ward signalled for a penalty. Gallagher stepped up and coolly slotted an excellent penalty into the right corner of the net to bring Harps right back into the contest.

As Dundee moved up the field with a short hand passing game, they were met by a wall of Tir Conaill men on every occasion, who repeatedly broke down the play and carried up the field at speed. Harps patiently kicked for points towards the end of the second half and despite numerous wides with a strong breeze on their backs, put 3 points on the scoreboard compared to the one solitary point from Dundee in the second half. Harps held on for two precious points which sees them sitting second in the league, in a strong position for the remainder of the competition.

Final score Tir Conaill Harps 1-8 2-3 Dundee Dalriada
