Big interest in gaelic football in Garngad
16 March 2010

As part of the Garngad Irish Heritage Group's annual St Patrick's
celebrations there was a series of Gaelic Football games organised at
Glenconner Park under the direction of Ciaran Kearney.. While parents were enjoying the craic agus ceol
inside the festival marquee, over 60 children enjoyed an afternoon of
Gaelic Football on the bowling greens. Such was the demand and numbers
after a while two pitches had to be formed to cater for the numbers
taking part. With many of local club Tir Conaill Harps members
overseeing the activities it was the youth members who really took the
lead. A group of the club's youth group took over the refereeing
duties for the afternoon to much success. Hopefully the club will have
got some new players on board for the coming season which is just
beginning. Many thanks go to the coaches of Tir Conaill Harp's for
organising the games but more so to the younger members of the club
for taking the lead in organising further activities.
