First game for the Ladies Footballers
09 April 2009

Injury, illness and other commitments meant a number of the more experienced players couldn't make the first match of the season against Dunedin.  This gave the young girls who have been training in Queens Park over the last couple of months their first experience of a competitive game.

Dunedin won the match quite comfortably however the team played their hearts out to the end.  Jordan Cannon scored a fantastic goal from a solo run of 25 meters, our first goal of the season.  Laura Donaghy did an excellent job as she played her first game in the pressurised position of goal.  It was great to see her, Siobhan McArdle, Jessica Doherty, Patricia McCardle and Jade Friel put into practice the skills they have been learning on a Saturday morning.

The second half saw further injuries for the team as Fidelma left with a dislocated finger and Sarah picked up a knee injury. So a tough start to the season, but an encouraging one.
