Club disclosure check procedures

These are the recommended procedures for Disclosure checking and relevant volunteers/ staff within Tir Conaill Harps GAC.

The club uses Disclosure Scotland as the Disclosure checking body to process checks.

The process below is based upon the process used by the SCG. Other Disclosure checking bodies may differ.

  1. Club and Disclosure Scotland enter into agreement (contract) stating that they will abide by relevant policies.
  2. Disclosure Scotland requests a copy of the clubs Child Protection Policy and Procedures, constitution, recruitment procedures and relevant job description.
  3. Club contacts Disclosure Scotland to request a Disclosure check for the applicant.
  4. If they are satisfied, Disclosure Scotland send appropriate disclosure form and self declaration form to the applicant.
  5. Club shortlists applicant for the post.
  6. Club contacts Disclosure Scotland to request disclosure check for the applicant.
  7. Applicant completes form.
  8. Applicant meets with disclosure Scotland lead signatory in order to verify form and ID (private and confidential).
  9. Disclosure Scotland sends form to CRBS.
  10. CRBS checks form/validity of club and that a disclosure is actually required for the post.
  11. CRBS then forward the certificate to Disclosure Scotland.
  12. Disclosure Scotland Disclosure committee meet to make final decision.
  13. Notification of the decision is then given to the club and the applicant.

Tir Conaill Harps GAC agrees to ensure that the club undertakes appropriate vetting checks as provided through Disclosure Scotland for anyone involved in working with young people and children.
