Club Recruitment Policy

The club recruitment policy is incporated in the Tir Conaill Harps Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Procedures.

 

Chair Person – Task Description

TITLE:    Chair Person

RESPONSIBLE TO:  The Club Management Committee


SKILLS/QUALITIES REQUIRED:

• Enthusiastic
• Well organised
• Prepared to make a regular time commitment
• Prepared to make instant decisions when necessary
• Confident at some public speaking and keeping order during meetings
• Able to delegate
• Running efficient meetings


MAIN DUTIES:

1) Manage the executive committee and the affairs of the club
2) Oversee and guide all decisions taken by the executive committee and sub committees
3) Liaise with the Volunteer Coordinator and oversee the work of all club personnel
4) In conjunction with the secretary, prepare and present the annual report
5) Liaise with the secretary on the Agenda for each meeting
6) Be familiar with the constitution, club rules, committee procedures and the NGB rules and regulations
7) Liaise with the Treasurer to ensure that financial aspects are appropriately managed.
8) Help to prepare and submit any statutory documents that are required (e.g. VAT, grant aid reports)
9) If unable to attend any committee meeting, send a written report to the meeting and the Vice Chairman briefed  on the Agenda.

 

Committee Member – Task Description

TITLE:    Committee Member

RESPONSIBLE TO:  The Club Management Committee

 

SKILLS/QUALITIES REQUIRED:

• Flexible
• Reliable and Honest
• Enthusiastic
• Prepared to make a regular time commitment
• Effective communicator
• Good listener

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Attend all club committee meetings
2) Attend all other club meetings committee members are expected to attend (e.g. AGM)
3) Be prepared to assist or stand in for any other club official when required
4) Discuss, vote and make decisions on relevant issues at meetings
5) Be familiar with the club’s structure, policies and activities
6) Participate fully in all committee work.

 

Junior Club Co-ordinator – Task Description


TITLE: Junior Club Co-ordinator
RESPONSIBLE: Junior Committee and the running of the junior section
RESPONSIBLE TO: The Club Management Committee

SKILLS/QUALITIES REQUIRED:

• Well organised
• Basic computer knowledge
• Enthusiastic
• Good time management
• Ability to recruit and motivate volunteers
• Ability to communicate effectively with young people

MAIN DUTIES:

1)   To abide by and promote the club’s child and vulnerable adult protection policy and club code of conduct to all  members
2)  To coordinate regular and appropriate participation opportunities for junior members within the club and   
      against other clubs
3)   To co-ordinate the coaches and coaching of the junior section
4)   To chair the Junior Committee
5)   To recruit, in line with club procedures,  volunteers to assist in the running of the junior section
6)   To encourage young people to volunteer and take responsibility for helping with the junior section
7)   To identify training needs for coaches, volunteers, young people, parents and seek potential courses
8)   To promote the junior section locally – schools, leisure centres, links with development programmes
9)   To ensure the Management Committee is aware of junior section activities and ensure links with senior   
      players throughout the season
10)  To take responsibility for providing an annual report and action plan for the junior section activities.


Secretary – Task Description

TITLE:     Secretary

RESPONSIBLE TO:   The Club Management Committee


SKILLS/QUALITIES REQUIRED:

• Enthusiastic
• Well organised
• Prepared to make a regular time commitment
• Office skills
• Decision making skills
• Minute / note taking

MAIN DUTIES:

1) Ensure effective club communication
2) Administer club databases and records
3) Take responsibility for meeting procedures, including the agenda and minutes, and liaise with the chairperson on this.
4) Assist in arranging and supporting events and activities.
5) In conjunction with the chairperson, prepare and present the annual report
6) Be familiar with the constitution, club rules, committee procedures and the NGB rules and regulations.

 

Child and/or Vulnerable Adult Protection Officer - Task Description.

Responsible to; Club Management Committee.

Skills/ Qualities Required;

  • Approachable with friendly manner
  • Good listener
  • Well organised
  • Motivated
  • Understand and appreciate the need to respect confidentiality
  • Prepared to pass on concerns to professional agencies when necessary
  • Have an understanding of child and vulnerable adult protection issues and the sensitive way in which they must be managed
  • be prepared to undertake training to help them perform the role

 

Main Duties- Joint Responsibility

  1. Ensure that the child and vulnerable adult protection procedures are sent to all members of the club and are understood and adhered to by all members.
  2. Understand and know who the main contact would be for reporting complaints.
  3. Attend a child/ vulnerable adult protection officer training workshop.
  4. Be familiar with relevant legislation.
  5. Understand the NGB child and vulnerable adult protection procedures, rules and regulations.
  6. In the event of a complaint being made ensure that the complaints and appeals procedures are met and see the procedures through to the final decision.
  7. Regulary update the executive committee and if unable to attend a meeting, a report/ apologies should be sent to the secretary.

 

First Aid Officer- Task Description

Responsible to; Club Management Committee.

Skills/ Qualities Required;

  • Enthusiastic
  • Prepared to make a regular time committment
  • Effective communicator.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities;

  1. Ensures first aid kits for all teams are filled on a regular basis
  2. Keep up to date and advise members/ coaches of upcoming first aid courses
