Great Support from Glasgow Irish for our appeal

16 March 2010

The Harps minibus appeal is £1500 to the good after the club served up a winner with visitors to the St Patrick's celebrations at Glenconner Park in Royston.

Thanks to the generosity and time of members and supporters, Harps volunteers were able to feed hundreds of people at the event, which was organised by Garngad Irish Heritage Group.

We're now a total of £4000 closer to our fund target of £15,000 after a round of bag packing, dances and generous donations from other Gaelic sports groups and associations.
However, the campaign to get the Harps back on the road has a long way to go and we're asking everyone to pull out the stops.

While we were really cooking indoors, Ciaran Kearney and members of the Harps Youth Group were busy putting youngsters through their football  paces.

There's now a minibus appeal page up and running on this website. You can donate online and the committee is looking for more innovative fundraisers.

Mini bus appeal off to a good start

02 March 2010

It's a long road ahead but the substantial shortfall in the insurers valuation and the cost of a new bus was cut by £500 on Sunday when the underage hurlers and camogs got a great response from the Glasgow public at a bag packing at Tesco in the east end.

The club will be meeting soon to outline their plans to raise the shortfall.  It already seems certain that the proceeds of their annual charity dinner in April which funds all of the club community development activities will now have to be set aside to finance the new bus.  "It is disappointing that we have to go down this road as the dinner usually covers all of our coaching, equipment and youth leadership activities for the next twelve months, but the priority for us is transport.  We are not set up like a traditional GAA club in Ireland.  Our children are spread all over the city so transport is  the key " explained the club chairman.  Due to lack of games locally the bus is also used regularly to take teams over to Ireland for games. In the coming weeks the under 12 hurlers and under 10s footballers had planned to go on trips. These have now been shelved until the bus is replaced.
The club have an online appeal set up . You can make a donation by clicking this link Club Everyclick Page.

Bag Packing - Saturday 2nd May

10 May 2009

Rumours that Miss McGinn had ran off with the money last Saturday turned out to be much exaggerated.

In fact the U12s and pupils from St Agnes' primary school raised a grand total of £670.  So well done to everyone who packed the day away at Asda in Summerston and apologies from Janice to whoever went home without their streaky bacon.  Next time she will leave the packing to the U12 professionals.

Thanks to Tombola Volunteers

16 March 2009

Willie Doherty would like to thank everyone for their time and support in making the Tombola at the St Patrick's Festival at Glenconner Park a success.

All the prizes that were donated raised a Grand total of £345.00 for the club.  Once again a very big thank you to all those who donated.
